Rahm storms the lead on the first day in Mexico

The Spanish Jon Rahm signed this Thursday a card of 64 strokes, seven under par, to start in first place, tied with four other players, in the Mexican Golf Open, a PGA tour tournament.

Rahm, number two in the world, completed a first day with an ‘eagle’ and five ‘birdies’, on the fourth, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth and eighteenth holes, to appear for first place tied with Americans Jonathan Byrd, Brendon Todd, Trey Mullinax and Bryson Nimmer.

The Mexican Open opens this year on the PGA tour, with a prize pool of 7.3 million dollarswhose winner will receive 500 points for the ranking.

Colombian Sebastián Muñoz finished with 66 strokes and is tenth in the standings.
