Rahm starts strong

The Spanish Jon Rahm started the Sentry Tournament of Champions this Thursday with a brilliant nine under par in Kapalúa (Hawaii) and was the best of the first day tied with the Americans Colin Morikawa and JJ Spaun.

Rahm caught up with Morikawa and Spaun in command of the leaderboard with a birdie on the 18th hole, after a bogey on the 14th hole marred his brilliant start. The Spaniard even managed an ‘eagle’ on the fifth hole and reacted with three ‘birdies’ in the last four holes after his ‘bogey’.

He finished with an excellent card, 64 strokes, like Morikawa and Spaun, who signed an immaculate path with nine ‘birdies’ each. An impact from the leaders is the South Korean Tom Kim. A group of six players, including world number two Scottie Scheffler, he finished the first round at seven under par, two shots off the leaders.
