Actress Radhika Apte recently opened up about a surprising experience during her first pregnancy. She shared how one film set treated her poorly. Another set, however, showed her incredible support. It highlights a sharp contrast in how different parts of the industry handle personal news.
Radhika was filming a project when she was in her first trimester. She began feeling unwell and needed to see a doctor. But the producer told her no. They simply would not let her go for a check-up. This left the actress feeling very upset and let down. She also mentioned feeling continuous cravings for food. She ate a lot of rice and pasta. Her body was going through natural changes. Instead of understanding, she faced a lack of care. When she was in pain and restless on set, they still did not allow her to see a doctor. This incident truly disappointed her.
She shared this story during Neha Dhupia’s “Freedom to Feed” session. Radhika revealed that the filmmaker was not happy about her pregnancy. They did not treat her well at all. They even pushed her to wear tight clothes, despite her discomfort and pregnancy. Radhika did not name the filmmaker during her discussion.

Around the same time, Radhika was also working on an international film. Her experience on that set was completely different. The Hollywood producer was incredibly understanding. She told him she was eating more than usual. She joked that by the end of the shoot, she would look very different. The producer just laughed warmly. He told her not to worry. He said it was fine, even if she looked like someone else. This was because she was pregnant. That sense of security and kindness meant so much to her. Radhika added that she understands everyone has work duties. But she had hoped for just a little sympathy from the Bollywood filmmaker.
