Queen Elizabeth II seen in public with a cane

Queen Elizabeth II was seen walking with a cane Tuesday, wearing that accessory for the first time at a public engagement since 2004, when she underwent knee surgery.

The 95-year-old queen, dressed in a blue outfit and matching coat and hat, attended a celebration at Westminster Abbey to mark the centenary of the Royal British Legion, an organization in support of soldiers and veterans of the British Army .

To access the abbey, he did not use the main entrance, but a secondary one to walk less.

At the exit of the abbey, the queen, very smiling, walked carrying a bouquets of flowers in her right hand and wielding her staff with her left.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.

Queen since the age of 25, Elizabeth II has been on the throne for almost seven decades. Her husband, Prince Philip, died on April 9 at the age of 99.
