Quartararo: “We expected something much better”

Fabio Quartararo could not have been more sincere at the end of the Valencia MotoGP test. The Frenchman finished ninth and was disappointed with the new Yamaha, especially as it had seemed so much better in previous tests. The 2021 champion was blunt when Dazn asked him if he finished this essay happy: “Glad? Not much, really. We expected something much better, especially the engine, and we have not found the speed that we had in Misano, in Barcelona and in the tests that Cal has done. We have to see what has happened and it is good that we have this break so that the real batteries.”

Part by part: “In motoring we have gone backwards. The problem is that we have tried an engine that in theory had less power, but that gave a lot of speed, like in Misano, but today we have not found it. I don’t know what happened, but we have to analyze it.”

It only saves one thing: “We have tried many things and the chassis has not given me a very good feeling. We went directly to the other bike and tried a lot of aerodynamics. It is difficult to know if it is better or not, because you have to analyze the data. The back wings I think we have done quite well. It is true that they are very high and I will have to put on the ‘device’ to get on the bike”.
