Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4: Mid-Range Chip Brings 59% Faster Gaming, 144Hz Displays

Qualcomm has launched its new Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, bringing significant performance upgrades and premium features typically found in high-end devices to the mid-range smartphone market.

The latest chipset offers a 36% increase in CPU speed and a 59% boost in graphics processing unit (GPU) performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. These improvements are largely due to a shift to Samsung’s 4-nanometer manufacturing process.

The new processor is designed to support displays with Full HD+ resolution and high refresh rates up to 144 Hz, providing smoother visuals for users. It also integrates advanced gaming capabilities through Snapdragon Elite Gaming, including Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for enhanced graphics rendering and Game Quick Touch for faster touch response.

The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 features an eight-core Kryo CPU configuration. This includes four performance cores clocking up to 2.40 GHz and four efficiency cores running at up to 1.80 GHz.

For connectivity, the chip supports 5G across both mmWave and sub-6GHz frequency bands, alongside Wi-Fi 6E. It also incorporates Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless peripheral connections.

Camera capabilities are boosted by the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, supporting image sensors up to 200 megapixels and video recording at 2K resolution at 30 frames per second. The chipset also includes Snapdragon Sound technology for high-quality audio experiences and Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ for rapid battery charging.

The processor supports high-speed LPDDR5X RAM up to 12 GB with speeds of 3,200 MHz, and UFS 3.1 storage for quick data access. Its model number is SM6435-AA.
