Qualcomm’s latest mid-range chip, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, is here. Built on a 4-nanometer process, it’s a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, launched in 2023. The new chip boasts improved CPU, GPU, and AI processing performance.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 features a 1+4+3 CPU core configuration, comprising a single prime core running at 2.8 GHz, four performance cores at 2.4 GHz, and three efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz. This setup provides a 27% boost in CPU speed compared to the previous generation.
Graphics and Gaming
The Adreno GPU in the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers a 30% performance increase over its predecessor. This is complemented by Snapdragon Elite Gaming features and the Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0. The chip also supports HDR10, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and HLG encoding.
The Hexagon NPU (Neural Processing Unit) is another key component, delivering a 65% improvement in AI processing performance. It also supports the Stable Diffusion 1.5 model, enabling more realistic text-to-image conversion.
