Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 may arrive sooner than expected

Qualcomm may release its next flagship smartphone chip sooner than usual.

Rumors suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will arrive a few weeks before its predecessor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was made official in mid-November last year.

The latest rumor comes from the well-known informant digital chat station, which claims that the company will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “a little earlier” than last year. If it’s true, the new chipset could arrive at the end of October this year.

Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 at the end of November 2021. Therefore, last year’s launch has already been delayed a few weeks.

Just three months ago, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was officially unveiled. Unsurprisingly, there haven’t been many rumors about the third generation yet. However, we heard that the new chipset will be based on a 3nm manufacturing process and will be manufactured by TSMC.

Samsung started mass production of 3nm chips before the Taiwanese company, but the latter achieved healthier performance rates. Samsung will only accept orders for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 if TSMC is unable to supply the required volume.

With a 3nm manufacturing process, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 should be much more efficient than the current chipset.
