Qualcomm is already working on the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Unveiled in late 2021, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is the most powerful processor currently available for the Android market. A SoC that will equip many top of the range to be announced in the first half of 2022.

As anticipated, the new processor will be developed by TSMC under its 4nm lithography process. Although the manufacturer of the processor changes, the manufacturing process of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will not change.

It is worth noting that Samsung currently produces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Therefore, it is not known why Qualcomm intends to change partners for the manufacture of its next chip.

Previous rumors point to some difficulties experienced by Samsung due to component shortages. This could be the reason for an eventual change of company, but nothing is official.

Details of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ are still very scarce. Still, it is expected to be revealed with a beefed-up CPU as a result of the higher frequencies of its processing cores.

Despite the news, a considerable difference with the already revealed model is not to be expected. That is, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ should be a timid update with minor improvements.
