Qatar dreams of the Olympic Games after celebrating the World Cup

Qatar occupies these days the world focus of sports with the celebration of the World Cupan event that could encourage the Qatari state to take the leap to host another major top-level sporting event: the 2036 Olympic Games.

According to The Guardian newspaper, the Qatari country is considering the possibility of presenting itself again to an Olympic bid after being unsuccessful in his three previous attempts.

The success of the World Cup plays an important role for Qatar in trying to convince the IOC, which has many doubts about whether the country will be prepared to attract more than 10,500 athletes from 32 different sports. despite the fact that Qatar has already hosted other top-level tournaments such as the 2015 Handball World Cup or the 2019 World Athletics Championships.

However, everything indicates that Qatar would not go alone in this Olympic candidacy, since Saudi Arabia is also running for a joint candidacy facing the 2036 Olympic Games. This candidacy would have India, Indonesia and Turkey as possible rivals.

A candidacy that, in case of winning the contest for the 2036 Olympic Games, would force the dates of the Games to be changed, since they would be held in autumn to avoid the high temperatures in summer in the country.

The 2036 Olympic Games are the first to seek a venue after the IOC has already awarded the celebration of the appointments to Paris in 2024, to Los Angeles in 2028 and to the Australian city of Brisbane in 2032.
