Two-time Olympic medalist from India PV Sindhu recorded a three-game match over Japan’s Aya Ohori in the first round of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton tournament on Wednesday. Defending world champion Sindhu made a good comeback after losing the first game and defeated Ohori 17-21, 21-17, 21-17 in a match that lasted one hour and 10 minutes to reach the quarterfinals.
With this victory, Sindhu brought her impressive record against the Japanese to 11-0. World No. 7 Sindhu, who crashed in the semifinals after a back-to-back loss to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi here last week, will face German shuttle Yvonne Lee, 23.

This will be the first match between the third-seeded Indian and the 26th in the world, Lee.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles pair of N Sikki Reddy and Dhruv Kapila crashed in the first round after losing 7-21, 12-21 to the Japanese pair of Kyohei Yamashita and Naru Shinoya.
