Pursued by hunters, a deer takes refuge near a football field

Willing to do anything to escape death. Trapped by hunters, a deer tried to take refuge on a football field, in the town of Saint-Sauveur, near Compiègne (Oise).

The facts took place last Saturday, November 13. While in the forest, the animal was taken on a run by a group of hunters with their dogs. During its flight, the deer approached the fence of a football field, where the parents of young players were.

Witnessing the scene, some residents intervened to protect the animal. For its part, the anti-hunting association AVA Compiègne protested, through a video filmed by a relative, against the relentlessness of hunters on deer.

The coach of the Association Sportive de Saint-Sauveur assured our colleagues of France 3 that dogs had entered the stadium grounds as the players warmed up. The latter added that the “followers” of the hunters, unarmed, were traveling by car and would have even wanted to enter the stadium to continue the hunt.

For its part, the AVA association denounced an offense committed by hunters, recalling that since 1979 hunting with hounds has been prohibited “in urban areas”. An accusation rejected by the riders who assured to have remained in the forest to pursue the deer.
