Mumbai Indians pulled off a thrilling win against Gujarat Titans in the eliminator match, securing their spot in Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings had already booked their place in Qualifier 2 after losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 1. The stage is now set for a high-stakes showdown between Mumbai and Punjab, with the winner earning a spot in the IPL 2025 final against RCB.
The crucial Qualifier 2 match is slated to take place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, with minimal chances of rain interruption. However, if the match is washed out, IPL rules dictate that the team with the higher ranking in the points table will advance to the final. In this case, Punjab Kings, who topped the table with 19 points, would gain an automatic entry into the final, leaving Mumbai Indians, who finished with 16 points, in a precarious position.
In the event of a rain delay, the IPL has allocated extra time to ensure the completion of playoff matches. If the match starts late, an additional 120 minutes can be utilized to complete the game. However, if the match is entirely abandoned due to rain, there is no reserve day scheduled.
The IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 is set to kick off on June 1 at 7:30 PM at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The IPL final will also be held at the same venue on June 3. Initially, the final was scheduled to take place at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, but due to tensions between India and Pakistan, the venue was shifted to Ahmedabad.
