“As of the current date and after the analysis of the shareholding composition of each of these companies, In light of the senator’s political position, it has been determined that they cannot contract or be suppliers of the State and their records have been suspended.”, They indicated.
The senator has assured that none of his companies had benefited from state contracts after being a senator and went so far as to affirm that if this was proven, he would resign from the position that performs.
The note indicates that in view of the weaknesses to regulate the participation of legal persons, whose shareholding composition includes high-ranking officials, the preliminary draft of the general law on Public Procurement, presented to the Legal Consultancy of the Executive Branch, proposes to make a distinction between absolute and relative disabilities.
“Among the absolute disabilities, that is, people who will not be able to contract with any State institution, are all first and second level officials of the institutions subject to the scope of application of said rule, as well as legal persons within which said servers have social participation, regardless of the percentage of participation. Similarly, the relatives of the President and the Vice President of the Republic will have absolute inability to contract with the State, whether by consanguinity or affinity, up to the second degree, as well as the legal persons in which they have social participation ”, explained the governing body in a press release sent to the media.
