That’s it, the new model of the PS5 has arrived at dealers. For now, only Australians have been able to get their hands on the latter, while the rest of the world continues to deal with the stockouts. The only improvements seem to be in the design.
Almost a year after its release, the PS5 is still hard to find. The smallest restock leaves in a few seconds, leaving the unlucky in the frustration of waiting. But in recent days, hope has been reborn. Without telling anyone, Sony released a new version of the Digital Edition in Japan at the end of July, called CFI-1100B. At first glance, alone its weight, lighter, seems to differ from the original version. In addition, this console should also be marketed in France in the coming weeks.
This strategy does not seem to concern only the Digital Edition. In Australia, Sony launched in the market a new model of the console with Blu-Ray player, this time called CFI-1102A. Great news for gamers nationwide, who were able to get hold of it while the rest of the world is still waiting for dealer stalls to fill up. So, is this the more powerful PS5 that Sony promised a few weeks ago? For the time being, Nothing is less sure.
Will the new PS5 end the shortage?
Sony is very mysterious about the real changes made to its console. Only certainties, she embarks a new screw and is 300 g lighter compared to the original version. This screw facilitates fixing the base vertically. Previously, it was necessary to have a screwdriver, whereas now it is possible to perform the operation by hand. As for the difference in weight, we don’t know anything about the subject.

Sony has not revealed how it went about lightening its console. However, it is a safe bet that nothing has changed in terms of performance. The Japanese firm has clearly expressed its desire to review the design of the PS5 to overcome the shortage of components, but this redesign should not land before 2022. In the meantime, the manufacturer is showing rather confident. The latter recently said that more stock will be available soon.
