For those eyeing the PS5 Slim console, a new detail has surfaced that might cause some gamers to pause. The specifications for an upcoming version of the console suggest a reduction in its internal storage capacity.
This information comes from the French website Dealabs, citing documents about a new PS5 Slim model, known as “Chassis E.” This model, expected to hit shelves soon, reportedly features a smaller solid-state drive (SSD). Instead of the original 1TB, users will find only 825GB of storage. Even less, about 667GB, will actually be usable for games and apps. Despite this downgrade, the price tag for this version is expected to remain at 499 Euros.

It appears this particular change might only affect consoles sold in Europe. Reports haven’t suggested similar specification adjustments or price increases for other regions. However, it’s worth noting that prices for the PS5 have been adjusted upwards in North America. This is due to rising US Tariffs, a different issue unrelated to the internal storage capacity.
If these changes spread, future PS5 Slim buyers might quickly run out of space. Many gamers would then need to consider buying an additional, larger SSD right away to store their growing game libraries. This could add an unexpected extra cost to their new console purchase.
