For years, gamers have known the small annoyance of switching their controller from one device to another. You unplug it from your console, only to painstakingly re-pair it with your computer or phone. Luckily, Sony has heard these quiet groans and delivered a solution for PlayStation 5 DualSense owners.
A recent firmware update for the DualSense controller and the PS5 console itself brings a welcome change. It now lets your controller connect to more than one device at a time. This means you can pair it with your PS5, then quickly pick it up and use it with your PC or mobile phone. The controller will switch automatically, making your gaming experience much smoother.
Sony first shared details about this helpful feature back in July. They then rolled out the update to everyone on September 17th. Beyond better device switching, this firmware also includes a new power-saving mode. This mode helps the controller last longer on a single charge. It also adds specific new features for upcoming games like Death Stranding 2, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei.
