Promipyme and Inespre agree to a financing agreement for 100 million pesos for retailers

The National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme) and the National Institute for Price Stabilization (Inespre) signed this Wednesday a financing agreement for an amount of RD$100 million that will boost the country’s retailers.

According to the head of Promipyme, Porfirio Peralta, that both entities will grant loans to the different associations of retail merchants so that grocery store owners can supply their businesses and sell products to citizens at a considerably lower price than they currently have.

Likewise, Peralta expressed that the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, has spoken of strengthening the retail sector.

"What is wanted is that people do not have to go to a large square or supermarket in the center of the city to buy their products, but that they can buy them in their area of ​​residence, in their closest grocery stores and at a reasonable price."said the official.

On his side, Iván Hernández, who heads Inespre, pointed out that The agreement has the purpose of mitigating the cost of the basic family basket.

"The State is doing everything possible to guarantee that Dominicans do not lack food despite the effects of the post-pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine"narrowed down

With this initiative, more than 5,000 businesses will be benefited retailers or grocery stores in the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal and Greater Santo Domingo.

According to the representatives of the various retail trade groups, the project will cover these three provinces in the first instance because they concentrate "almost 60% of the commercial population" from the Dominican Republic.

The agreement was signed at a meeting with the media that was attended by the president of the National Federation of Retailers, Fausto Figuereo, the head of the United Retailers Group, Ricardo Rosario, and the deputy director of Credit at Promipyme, Wagner Jiménez. .
