Proindustria and PUCMM sign agreement for technological development of the manufacturing industry

With the aim of promoting research and training activities, the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement, aimed at stimulating the transfer of knowledge, innovation and technological development of the manufacturing industrythrough the development of industrial design programs, utility models and inventions.

The agreement was signed at the PUCMM headquarters by the general director of Proindustria, Ulises Rodríguez, and the rector of the university, Secilio Espinal Espinal.

In his words, Ulises Rodríguez stated: “in this agreement we bet on the innovation model of the four propellers, which include the creation of linking spaces between academia, government, companies and people in general.

For his part, the rector of the university said that the university is committed to raising the training of professionals and human resources demanded by the development process and the new times that the Dominican Republic is experiencing.

Both institutions committed to carry out joint actions to link PUCMM student inventors, innovators, entrepreneurs, as well as the entire university community with the local manufacturing industry associated with Proindustria, in order to promote the identification of problems they face. Mipymes, and offer solutions through their projects; and to detect useful applications in the industry of patented products and procedures.

The document establishes that, through the Industry Support Services Department, they will work on the design and development of activities and projects aimed at strengthening technological entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives, as well as the promotion and dissemination of knowledge, through activities in accordance with the mission and goals of Proindustria and within the framework of the plan identified by the PUCMM.

The agreement has a duration of three years and a Mixed Commission will be designated responsible for the coordination, development and monitoring of the agreement, headed by Proindustria Ms.
