Professional League: Unión added its third win in a row and left the bottom of the table

Unión de Santa Fe defeated Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata 2-0 this Sunday at the 15 de Abril stadium and added its third consecutive victory in the Professional League tournament, in the midst of the tough fight to remain in the First Division, for the nineteenth date.

Sebastián Méndez’s team kept all three points in an even match thanks to goals from the youthful Jerónimo Dómina, 11 minutes into the second half, and Brayan Castrillón to put final figures at 27.

In the initial stage, with the game 0-0, “Tatengue” goalkeeper Santiago Mele saved Cristian Tarragona’s penalty at 31 minutes and marked the way for his team’s celebration.

Unión accumulated its third consecutive victory and managed to get out of the bottom of the standings: it surpassed Arsenal, which has 17 points, by reaching 18 points.

The “Gallego” Méndez team seeks to escape relegation, both by the annual table and by the averages, so the string of good results gave air to the Santa Fe team, which was in decline and did not seem to react.

Gymnastics, for its part, is located nineteenth in the standings with 22 points and this Thursday will visit Goias in Brazil in search of a victory that will allow it to continue with chances of advancing to the next instance of the Copa Sudamericana.
