Instituto played for a time and endured in the other. And with that formula he beat Belgrano 1-0, one of the classics of Cordoba football. Forty-five thousand fans of the two teams gave a crowded setting to the stands of the Mario Kempes stadium. But only those of the “Gloria” could scream.
A goal from Adrián “Maravilla” Martínez 40 minutes into the opening stage gave Instituto a much-needed win in their fight to maintain the category and caused Belgrano his fifth consecutive defeat as a visitor.
Belgrano was surpassed in the first half by the increased activity and the best play by the Instituto midfielders, especially Graciani, Franco Watson and Lodico. And he was only able to react in the second, in parallel with the ddecision of coach Diego Dabove that “Gloria” play very late, without the intensity and control that he had in the beginning.
But the sky-blue team once again lacked ingenuity from the midfield upwards to try something different from throwing the ball to his striker Pablo Vegetti. And he also ran into a good night from goalkeeper Manuel Roffo who scored three goal balls.
