Colon and Newell’s drew 1-1 this Saturday afternoon at the Brigadier Estanislao López stadium in the capital of Santa Fe, in a match for the tenth round of the Professional League that evidenced the irregular functioning of both teams. With this result, Colón reached 15 units, three more than the Rosario team.
Colon tried from the beginning to be the champion of the last League Cup again, but the line of five did not work for Eduardo Domínguez, since his defenders offered many facilities to Ignacio Scocco, Ramiro Sordo and the Newell’s midfielders who they added.
On the side of those led by Fernando Gamboa, the idea was to press very high so that Colón’s defenders ended up throwing balls at Farías and Leguizamón and thus facilitate the clearances of Lema and Mansilla.
Scocco showed his quality in each touch and became the generator of plays for Rosario, sometimes putting his teammates face to face with Leonardo Burián, a good job. When the first half was lost in insignificance, Newell’s had a corner in favor that Nicolás Castro executed notably for the appearance of Facundo Mansilla, who spliced the ball with great force and placed it down at the far post.
Faced with the fatigue of his recovery flyers, which left the broken team and the forwards very far away, Gamboa replaced Pérez and Leguizamón with two similar players with the idea of avoiding the draw of a Colón that pushed him more and more against Aguerre.
At 66 minutes and despite his loneliness in attack, Scocco stole a ball and got into the area, but Burián saved the attack by going to his feet and retaining the ball. But at 74, Eric Meza overflowed on the right and his center bounced off the leg and then into the hand of Franco Negri and referee Jorge Baliño sanctioned a penalty, although the play left doubts.
Facundo Farías changed the penalty for a goal and his team was emboldened to go looking for the three points, but could not violate Gamboa’s defensive scheme, so the game was slowly leaning towards a draw.
No goals in Tucumán
Earlier, Atlético Tucumán and Arsenal de Sarandí opened Saturday’s action with a goalless draw at the Dean’s home, which reached 15 points while the visit remains last in the table, with 7.
The result ended up being fair because of what was done in both times, without too many ideas. The point represented a good reward for Arsenal, who managed to keep the fence at zero for the second consecutive date after receiving 18 goals in the tournament.
In the first half blocked and very slowly on the part of both teams, Arsenal had one of the clearest when Nicolás Mazzola was left alone against Cristian Luchetti and defined over the goal, although he missed by just a few centimeters.
The other danger was wasted by Cristian Menéndez, who started enabled by Gastón Suso – he stepped forward late – but Alejandro Medina covered a strong and high shot to drown him the goal cry.
The complement was presented with several similarities: long balls from the centrals, many fouls in the middle zone and little offensive weight in both areas.
Arsenal tried when they connected Alan Ruiz, Mazzola and Nicolás Castro in the first 15 minutes but everything was left in poorly executed ideas on the last section.
Atlético got comfortable with the changes, always supported by the balance of Franco Mussis, and deserved to win at least one tight victory, although it was denied by the great afternoon of Medina.
