Renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra is embarking on a new chapter, making his debut as a film producer with “Gustakh Ishq.” He has expressed significant praise for the movie’s lead actor, Vijay Varma.
Malhotra specifically compared Varma to superstar Shah Rukh Khan from the 1990s era. This high praise comes as Malhotra promotes his first film under his Stage 5 Productions banner.
Speaking with Varinder Chawla, Malhotra elaborated on his choice to cast Varma. He noted a prevalence of young boys and girls on screen today, rather than mature men and women.
Malhotra stated that Vijay Varma brings a unique depth and perfection to his acting. This quality sets him apart from other performers in the industry.
The producer believes Varma embodies qualities of a young man, blending both a contemporary and classic persona. This distinct presence led to his casting in “Gustakh Ishq.”
Malhotra added that Varma’s personality aligns with his on-screen role. He feels Varma’s portrayal of the character Pappan revives the male lead archetype. This role is reminiscent of the kind Shah Rukh Khan played in the 1990s.
“Gustakh Ishq” is directed by Vibhu Puri. The film also features Fatima Sana Shaikh in a prominent role opposite Varma.
Sharib Hashmi and veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah are also part of the key cast. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on November 28.
