Priyadarshan Denies Akshay Kumar Cut John Abraham’s Role in ‘Garam Masala’

Director Priyadarshan has addressed long-standing rumors regarding Akshay Kumar influencing co-star John Abraham’s role in their 2005 hit film, “Garam Masala.” Priyadarshan unequivocally dismissed these claims as “nonsense.”

The acclaimed filmmaker, known for his successful collaborations with Kumar, stated that Akshay has no reason to feel insecure about any other actor. He suggested such rumors are designed to tarnish Kumar’s image. Priyadarshan credited Kumar’s sustained success to his honesty, hard work, and talent.

Priyadarshan specifically praised Kumar’s comedic performance in “Garam Masala.” He highlighted Kumar’s “laugh-out-loud funny” delivery under his direction, which resonated strongly with audiences. Personally, Priyadarshan believes Kumar’s comic timing in “Garam Masala” was as good as his acclaimed work in “Hera Pheri.”

The successful director-actor duo is set to reunite for two upcoming films, “Bhoot Bangla” and “Haivan.” Priyadarshan noted that Kumar will showcase a “very funny” side in “Bhoot Bangla” and a “quite serious” one in “Haivan.”

“Garam Masala,” released in 2005, was a popular comedy-drama. The film, also directed by Priyadarshan, starred Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav. It followed two photographer friends whose lives become complicated while managing multiple romantic relationships simultaneously.
