Prisoner exchange between the Yemeni government and the Houthis

A prisoner exchange has been agreed between the Yemeni government and the Houthis.

According to Arab media, the Yemeni government and the Houthi militia have announced the exchange of prisoners from Thursday, April 13.

The process of exchange of prisoners and hostages has started in phases and will be completed in three days.

According to Majid Fazl, an official of the Yemeni government, about 900 prisoners will be exchanged between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, for which flights will also be operated. Most of them were fighting alongside the Iran-backed Houthi militia against the Yemeni army.

The official says that 72 prisoners will be released in the first phase, with more than 1,400 civilians still in Houthi militia prisons.

It should be noted that efforts for peace between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continue and the Saudi ambassador in Sana’a, the Yemeni capital under the control of the Houthi rebels, has announced the consolidation of the ceasefire.
