Prince William has expressed his enthusiasm for his upcoming trip to Brazil. This marks his first visit to the South American nation.
William, 43, detailed his travel plans for the week on the official X account of the Prince and Princess of Wales. The announcement came on Sunday, November 2. He will promote his Earthshot Prize initiative and attend a United Nations climate summit in Brazil.
"As I depart for Rio de Janeiro, I am excited for my first visit," William wrote. He looks forward to experiencing Brazil’s vibrant culture, extraordinary biodiversity, and the warmth of its people.
Accompanying a scenic view of Rio de Janeiro, William also voiced excitement for his engagements. "With global attention on Brazil this week, there is no better place to celebrate bold climate leadership," he stated. He added that hosting the Earthshot Prize allows recognition and inspiration from those driving change for a sustainable future.
The Earthshot Prize is an environmental award established by the Prince of Wales in 2020. It grants significant financial awards to winners across categories for admirable environmental objectives.
William’s positive message follows a tumultuous week for the British royal family. His uncle, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, was stripped of his Prince and Duke of York titles. Buckingham Palace made this announcement on October 30.
Us Weekly reported that William supported his father, King Charles III, in this decision. The move also included Andrew, 65, being removed from Royal Lodge. This was in light of the former prince’s alleged involvement in a sexual assault scandal.
A formal notice was delivered to Andrew, according to the palace statement. This ensured he would terminate his lease and relocate to alternative private accommodation.
The statement continued, "These censures are considered necessary." This was issued despite Andrew’s continued denial of the allegations against him.
Royal experts suggested William’s support for King Charles III, 76, stemmed partly from ongoing issues between Andrew and Princess Kate Middleton.
Author Christopher Anderson, who penned The King: The Life of Charles III, told Us that Andrew "never was welcoming with Kate." This was stated prior to the King’s announcement about Andrew.
Despite their differences with Andrew, William and Middleton, both 43, temporarily moved their family to a residence closer to the former prince. This move occurred before his departure from Royal Lodge. A Telegraph report on Saturday, November 1, stated the couple moved to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park earlier this year.
The report detailed that the couple and their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, had planned to move from Adelaide Cottage near Christmas. However, advanced construction allowed them to enter their new home sooner than anticipated.
