Prince Harry Visits Queen Elizabeth II’s Tomb on 3rd Anniversary Amidst Reconciliation Hopes

Prince Harry’s journey back to the United Kingdom kicked off with a truly emotional stop. He went straight to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II’s, resting place. It was a solemn moment for the Duke of Sussex.

Harry, who is 40 years old, landed in his home country on Monday, September 8. He had a scheduled appearance at the WellChild awards. But before that, several news outlets reported he made a beeline for St. George’s Chapel. Sources speaking to a prominent entertainment publication, Us Weekly, shared that Harry laid a wreath and flowers at Elizabeth’s tomb. This special tribute marked the third anniversary of her passing.

Interestingly, Harry didn’t cross paths with any other family members during this quiet visit. His brother, Prince William, and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, were at an event in Sunningdale. They attended a gathering for the Women’s Institute, a cause that Queen Elizabeth passionately supported before her death.

This Monday marks the start of Harry’s four-day trip to the UK. Everyone who follows the royals is watching closely. They want to see if the Duke of Sussex will meet with his father, King Charles III, while he’s there. Rumors about a face-to-face chat between Harry and his 76-year-old father have been swirling for months.

A royal insider spilled the beans to Us Weekly just last week. They called this potential meeting “decisive.” The source explained, “If it goes well, it could open doors for other family members to mend fences.” But they also gave a warning: “If anything negative gets out, it’s all over. There will be no chance for peace.”

Neither Harry’s team nor Charles’s confirmed any meeting plans. Still, talk picked up after members of their inner circles met in the UK last July. At that time, several news outlets reported that Harry’s and Charles’s teams sat down. They aimed to discuss the family disagreement and find possible solutions.

Us Weekly understands that Meredith Maines, who leads communications for Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, was in London. She was there for standard meetings. These included talks with the UK communications team, media, interested parties, and key figures related to the Duke’s charity work.

Harry has been somewhat separated from his family since he and Meghan, 44, stepped back from royal duties in 2020. However, the issues between the Duke and his father became much more public in May. That’s when Harry lost his appeal for government-funded security in the UK. He even hinted that King Charles might have had a say in that decision.

“There is a lot of control and capability in my father’s hands,” Harry stated clearly in a BBC interview. “Ultimately, all of this could be sorted out through him. Not necessarily by jumping in, but by stepping back and letting the experts do what they need to do.”
