Prince Andrew’s 2011 Email to Epstein: ‘We’re in This Together’

A surprising new email has popped up, linking Prince Andrew even closer to the late Jeffrey Epstein. Several UK news outlets got their hands on this alleged message, sent from the royal to the disgraced financier. It dates back to February 2011.

The email’s words cut deep: “I am as worried about you as I am! Don’t worry about me!” the message reportedly said. “It seems we are in this together, and we will have to get through it.” Prince Andrew’s message ended with a casual sign-off: “Otherwise, keep in touch and we will play more soon.”

This new piece of correspondence raises eyebrows. Epstein faced federal charges for sex trafficking minors in Florida and New York. He was arrested in 2019. Just a month later, he died by suicide at age 66 in a New York correctional center.

The Daily Mail reported on Sunday, October 12, that it confirmed the email came from an address used by Andrew. Epstein’s side of the email exchange had already come out in court papers. The publication added that Andrew would not comment on the matter. A news outlet, Us Weekly, reached out to Prince Andrew’s team for comment.

This isn’t the first time old emails between Andrew and Epstein have surfaced. A different set of messages was found earlier this year, also supposedly sent in 2011. One of those emails even had the same closing line from Andrew: “We’ll play more soon!”

These emails contradict a major claim Prince Andrew made. During his well-known BBC Newsnight interview in 2019, he stated he had cut ties with Epstein in December 2010. That’s a full two months before this newly revealed email was sent.

The Duke of York sat down with journalist Emily Maitlis for that 2019 interview. He wanted to discuss his friendship with Epstein. He also addressed serious accusations that he had sexually assaulted Virginia Giuffre when she was underage. The alleged assault was said to have happened at one of Epstein’s properties.

Giuffre reportedly met Epstein’s former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell (now in prison), back in 2000. This happened while Giuffre was working at the Mar-a-Lago resort, which is now owned by President Donald Trump. During the interview, Andrew denied Giuffre’s claims. He famously said he “didn’t recall ever meeting this lady,” even though a photo of them together exists.

Giuffre eventually took Andrew to court for sexual abuse in 2021. They settled out of court for an unknown amount. Tragically, Giuffre died by suicide at 41 last April.

After his Newsnight interview, Prince Andrew stepped away from his royal duties. He released a statement explaining his decision. “In recent days it has become clear to me that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein have become a major disruption to my family’s work,” he said. He noted the “valuable work being carried out by the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support.” He added, “Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty for permission to step back from public duties for the foreseeable future and she has given her approval.”

In that same statement, Andrew also spoke about his “reckless association” with Epstein. “His suicide has left many questions unanswered, particularly for his victims,” Andrew said, adding he deeply sympathized with everyone affected who wanted closure. “I can only hope that, in time, they may be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required.”
