Candidate for the right-wing primary, the deputy (LR) of the Alpes-Maritimes Éric Ciotti made his political comeback on August 28 in front of his supporters, in Levens, near Nice. The opportunity for the chosen one to defend his favorite themes.
Like every year at the end of the summer, Eric Ciotti gathered his supporters (more than 2000) in Levens, in the Middle-Country of Nice, for his traditional political comeback. But the meeting had a very special color this year. The deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes, surrounded by many local elected officials, has indeed reaffirmed that he will be a candidate for the right-wing primary in view of the presidential election of 2022. “I am not a superman, I am a man sure of his convictions. I want each of you to be convinced of my fierce determination ”.
For the deputy from the Riviera, faced with “the decade of decline” embodied by Emmanuel Macron, it takes “a leap for France to remain France”. A start that the right alone can embody, according to him: “I consider that we have all our chances. The right is the only one able to provide an alternative to the duel-duo represented by Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen ”.
“Defend a strong France through a strong right”
Among its proposals the prohibition of the Islamic veil for minors, at university or in school trips. The establishment of the right of blood, in opposition to the current right of the soil, to obtain French nationality.
But also the reduction of income tax with the establishment of a “flat tax”, or “a major climate preservation policy by trusting in progress and science, through nuclear power, alone. energy that does not emit greenhouse gases ”.
In addition to Eric Ciotti, three other candidates have (for the moment) declared themselves: Valérie Pecresse, president of the Ile-de-France region, Michel Barnier, the former negotiator of the European Union in charge of Brexit and Philippe Jouvin, mayor of Garenne-Colombes.
According to the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes: “the primary will allow the emergence of the best candidate … at the exit it will only take one, it is a duty” while ensuring that the competition will be on its side “fair, transparent, serene and respectful ”.
Bruno Retailleau and Laurent Wauquiez finally decided not to run.
Eric Ciotti launched an appeal to “all those behind them, share their struggles to defend a strong France through a strong right”.
