Primark shoots up its sales by 81% in the last quarter and launches the click&collect service

the textile chain Primark recorded an increase in sales of 81% until May 28, which means that their sales reached €2 billion. These data are great news for the company, since they would show the timid beginnings of a recovery. Turnover is still 9% below pre-pandemic levels.

However, the most relevant part of the statement issued by the Associated British Foodsthe group that owns the clothing firm, is the announcement of the launch of its new click&collect service. Primark had remained on the sidelines in terms of sales through the online channel, but little by little it is showing its interest in it. The system will start testing at the end of the year in 25 stores in the North West of England and only for children’s clothing.

Paul Marchant, CEO of Primarksaid: “The Click & Collect trial is a milestone for our business and builds on the investments we have made over the last two years in new technology and people to make it possible. This trial will give customers much more of what they love and a new way to shop with us. It brings more choice and convenience and complements the great in-store experience that is the foundation of our business. We think it will also give us the opportunity to reach new customers by highlighting the fantastic collection we have for children of all ages. We have chosen to test the new service in a region where we have a wide range of stores of different sizes and formats, and we are looking forward to seeing the response from customers.«.

The company has been preparing for this launch for months now, because in April of this year they launched a new website in the United Kingdom. Thanks to this renewal, consumers can check the availability of products in stores. Additionally, the company shared that the new website was receiving 60% more traffic in the first month of its launch.

The British chain has managed to increase its income by 69% so far this fiscal year, to 6,100 million euros. This has been possible thanks to the possibility of keeping all stores open during the third quarter. At the end of May, Primark had 403 stores and plans to open another five stores before the end of the year, including Chieti and Bologna (Italy), Brno (Czech Republic), Tallaght (Ireland) and New York (USA). ).
