Primal Scream, Johnny Marr, and More: A Collection of Renowned Rock Musicians

What You Need to Know:

The musical refreshment has arrived with the albums and songs of the week. Now, we have new material from Primal Scream, Johnny Marr, A Place to Bury Strangers, and more.

The Songs of the Week:

  1. “Love Insurrection” – Primal Scream

We kick off the songs of the week with an exciting return. Primal Scream comes with a new album called “Come Ahead” which will be available on November 8th. The funky-soul guitars and Bobby Gillespie’s soft voice are one of those combinations that stick in your mind… Totally awesome song.

  1. “All Out Attack” – Johnny Marr & The Healers

It was back in 2003 when Johnny Marr & The Healers released the album “Boomslang”. And as part of the celebrations for the more than 20 years of that material, we will have a special edition that will arrive on September 20. The highlight? The re-release will feature several previously unreleased tracks that were recorded during the sessions for that album, but didn’t make the final cut of the track listing.

  1. “Chicago” – Japandroids

And just as there are returns of the caliber of Primal Scream, there are also farewells that resonate like that of the Japandroids, who will release their latest album, “Fate & Alcohol” later this year (although no exact date yet). The Canadian duo opens this new –and last– stage with “Chicago”, an emotional song, with chord sequences that give it a somewhat dreamy vibe, which talks about wanting the good times to never end.

  1. “All In My Head” – Awolnation ft Del the Funky Homosapiens

What’s up with the bunch of musical influences in this Awolnation song, huh… “I Am Happy” suddenly sounds like an electronic beat worthy of The Chemical Brothers or Fatboy Slim with the tremendous rap of Del the Funky Homosapiens. But soon, it becomes a track of synths and string instruments that go from tension to calm… With this, Aaron Bruno, the mind behind Awolnation, continues the path towards the album “The Phantom Five” which comes out on August 30th.

  1. “Ty Zhe Ne Znaesh Kto Ya” – Molchat Doma

Because it’s not all about post-punk… Molchat Doma is exploring its most electronic side possible and it seems that its new album, “White Polosa” captures the essence of late 80s and early 90s EBM. The proof is in the brilliantly sinister “Ty Zhe Ne Znaesh Kto Ya”, which has a drum machine and lots of synths for dancing in the dark.

Honorable Mentions of Songs of the Week:

  • “Kiki, You Complete Me” – Los Bitchos
  • “Eternal” – Vitesse X
  • “I’m In Love (Subaru)” – Sports Team

  • “Hey Homie” – Sofi Tukker
  • “Coast” – Kim Deal
  • “Down N Out” – FIDLAR

Albums of the Week:

  1. “Bando Stone and The New World” – Childish Gambino

The last album of Childish Gambino, “Bando Stone and The New World” puts an end to the discography of Donald Glover’s alter ego with an eclectic mix of genres, with rap and hip-hop as the main genres.

  1. “I Love You So F*ing Much” – Glass Animals

“I Love You So F***ing Much” is the new album from Glass Animals, which once again relies on Dave Bayley’s catchy vocal melodies, with hopeful messages despite going through difficult times.

Honorable Mentions of Albums of the Week:

  • “King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2” – Denzel Curry
  • “All Hell” – Farmers!
  • “Across The River Of Stars” – Beachwood Sparks
