President of the International Weightlifting Federation visits CO de JCC 2026

The president of the International Weightlifting Federation, Mohammed Jalood, and the president of the Pan American Weightlifting Confederation, José Carlos Quiñones González, paid a courtesy visit to the Organizing Committee of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026.

Jalood and Quiñones González were accompanied by William Ozuna, president of the Dominican Weightlifting Federation and the general secretary of that organization, Maritza Ortiz.

During their visit, they discussed various topics with the president of the Santo Domingo 2026 Games Committee (COSADO26), José P. Monegro, as well as with the other members of that body, meeting in a working session.

They also exchanged impressions with engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee and second vice president of COSADO26, who thanked them for the visit.

Jalood and Quiñones González visited the country to work on the organization of the Central American and Caribbean Weightlifting Championship to be held in the Dominican Republic in April, the last qualifier for the San Salvador Games, 2023.

The visitors predicted success to the Organizing Committee in its task of setting up the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 and in the organization in the country, of the sub-venues of seven sports corresponding to the San Salvador 2023 Games.

Canoeing, taekwondo, modern pentathlon, equestrian, clay pigeon shooting, racquetball and field hockey will be the sports of the San Salvador 2023 Games that will be played on Dominican soil.
