President of platform taxis considers agreement “is a trap”

The president of the Dominican Association of Drivers for Applications (Adocapps), Odalis Vega, assured that there has been no agreement between traditional and platform taxi drivers, as had been announced in the early hours of this past Tuesday.

He argued that within the agreement that has been raised and that he classified as a problem, the distance of one kilometer that prevents platform taxi drivers from entering the hotels still continues, and only the traditional ones can access the tourist complex.

"We cannot enter because there is the issue of distance, they do not want to give in on that. There is no agreement at all", said.

Interviewed in the program Más Cerca that is transmitted by Studio 88.5 FM and YouTube, Vega added that in the agreement that has not yet been signed, which will create problems and confusion.

"It is like giving the platform to the trade unionists of this country. More confusion, more troublesome", he indicated.

Another of the demands made by tourist taxi drivers is regarding the rate, in which they ask Uber drivers to have the prices of services like these, added Vega in the program led by Anibelca Rosario, Hansel García, Marisol Mendoza and Dary Terrero .

"What do tourist taxi drivers propose? We are going to adhere to the platform, but prior to that, the platforms have to level the rate they use, that is, put it at the level of us to start creating inequality with the user", he pointed out.

He argued that this measure would leave them unequal, since users go to platform drivers for safety and for the price.
