President Erdogan announced early elections in Turkey

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially announced the date of presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.

According to foreign media reports, the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey were scheduled to be held on June 14 this year, but President Erdoğan announced their holding a month ago.

Under Article 116 of the Constitution, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed and issued a decree to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14, 2023.

He said in his statement that the people will elect their new president and members of parliament on May 14.

Explaining the reason for the early elections, Turkey’s president said that on June 18, the university entrance exam that would determine the future of millions of our youth was scheduled.

He said that in June, millions of our citizens from home and abroad are going to leave to perform Hajj and in addition to this, millions of citizens will go to their native places to celebrate summer vacations in schools.
