President Droupadi Murmu presented the 58th Jnanpith Award for 2023 to renowned poet-lyricist Gulzar and Sanskrit scholar Jagadguru Rambhadracharya in New Delhi.
Gulzar, whose real name is Sampooran Singh Kalra, is celebrated for his work in Hindi cinema and is considered one of the finest Urdu poets of our time. Unfortunately, he couldn’t attend the ceremony due to health issues.
Awards and Recognition
The Jnanpith Award recognizes outstanding contributions to literature. Both Gulzar and Rambhadracharya were honored for their significant work in their respective fields.
Rambhadracharya’s Achievements
Rambhadracharya is a prominent Hindu spiritual leader, educator, and author of over 240 books and texts, including four epic poems. He’s the founder and head of Tulsi Peeth in Chitrakoot. The award includes a citation, a cash prize, and a bronze replica of Goddess Saraswati.
