President Abinader begins reconstruction work on the Barranquita

 
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, opened this Saturday to the remodeling work of the La Barranquita complex, a large space that will eventually become the Great Sports Development and Training Center for the benefit of the entire Cibao region.
With the beginning of its reconstruction, the president put an end to more than 30 years of requests that fell into the void of the inhabitants of Santiago and neighboring provinces, who clamored for the repair of the different facilities that the second largest sports center has. wide of the country.
The first phase of the work involves an investment of 90 million pesos, to be allocated to the total remodeling of the five pavilions that houses La Barranquita, a gigantic space built to host the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1986.
These pavilions are those for table tennis, gymnastics, boxing, volleyball, as well as the one that includes combat sports, karate, judo, taekwondo, wrestling, among others. The open basketball courts and one of the baseball stadiums will also be repaired.

Abinader revealed that he always had great interest in remodeling La Barranquita and welcomed the fact that the time has come to do so.
He exhorted athletes and other citizens to take special care of the facilities once they are completely rebuilt and remodeled, so as not to have to invest in them again in a short time.
He argued that these structures will be supervised by a volunteer who will lead the businessman José Miguel Bonetti since, he said, that in the same way it is being executed with hospitals and museums, among other state buildings.
“That is what we want and hope, that these facilities last for a long time, but for this to be possible we must all take care of them as if they were our own,” said Abinader.
 
Camacho
The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, said in a speech that a tender will be held in January for the execution of the second stage of the reconstruction of the complex, which will include the lighting of all the facilities and surrounding areas, in addition to the paving of the streets and sidewalks.
In that sense, he expressed that for these purposes he has already discussed and has the approval of his Public Works counterpart, Deligne Ascensión, and Andrés Cueto Rosario, general manager of Edenorte, who was in the activity.
“One of the main reasons that marks the success of this Government is that we all work as a single team, and this will happen once again with the repair of La Barranquita, in which several ministers have joined together to turn this structure into a modern development and training center ”, expressed Camacho.
Camacho said that the repair of La Barranquita was a campaign commitment and that after the triumph of President Abinader, he visited the structure last September and officially announced that the complex will be remodeled by almost one hundred percent.
“We have fulfilled what was promised and our goal is to restore the splendor of this sports center, from which many of the best athletes in the country were forged in the past and which will be of great benefit to the 14 provinces that comprise the entire Cibao region. “Added the official.
He stressed that it had been promised to turn La Barranquita into a great sports center in the Cibao region, a high-performance complex for the preparation of athletes from all over the north of the country.
And he recalled that, during the electoral campaign, the immortal of Dominican sports, Juan Vila, suggested to him on several occasions that if victory were to take place, one of the most important aspects of his administration would be to completely remodel La Barranquita.
For her part, the provincial governor, Rosa Santos, said that of all the activities that President Abinader had scheduled this weekend, the one that caused him the greatest enthusiasm was the opening of the works in La Barranquita.
The activity was also attended by the President of the Senate of the Republic, Eduardo Estrella; the Vice Ministers of Sports, Francisco De la Mota, Juan Vila and Kennedy Vargas; the administrator of Coraasan, Andrés Burgos, as well as the businessmen Bonetti and Adalberto De León, among others.
