The film world is buzzing with talk about work hours, especially after actress Deepika Padukone asked for a specific schedule. Now, actress and businesswoman Preeti Jhangiani has stepped in. In a candid chat with Amar Ujala Digital, she’s openly backing Deepika’s call for an eight-hour workday.
Deepika had asked to shoot only six to eight hours a day for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Spirit’. Her reason was simple: she wanted to spend time with her daughter, Dua. This request reportedly led to her being replaced in the film by Tripti Dimri. Sandeep Reddy Vanga later posted a strong message on social media about the situation. This sparked a wide debate among many film personalities.
A Fair Day’s Work: Why the Double Standard?
Preeti Jhangiani doesn’t see anything wrong with asking for an eight-hour shift. “It’s a perfectly reasonable and sensible request, especially for a new mother,” she told Amar Ujala Digital. She pointed out that eight-hour shifts are standard practice around the world. “I’m an actress myself. I’ve worked 13 to 14-hour shifts,” she shared. “We know we have to give our best for a film, that’s a given.”
Preeti then raised a question about fairness. “When male actors decide not to shoot after 6 PM or ask for an early pack-up, nobody questions it,” she noted. “So why does it become such a big deal, such a debate, when a woman, an actress, asks for a set working time for herself?” It’s a point that makes you think about how different rules apply to different people in the same industry.

Making Room for Life: The Right to Flexibility
Preeti feels that everyone should have the right to work according to their personal needs. “Many times, an actress has turned down a project because she didn’t want to shoot at that time for personal reasons. Nobody ever debated that,” Preeti explained. She stressed that every project has different demands. “Discussions should happen with mutual understanding and respect, not with judgment. Deepika’s stance is completely valid. This whole debate just shows we need more understanding for female artists in the workplace.”
Beyond the Spotlight: Preeti’s Other Ventures
Preeti Jhangiani isn’t just speaking out; she’s also busy with her own projects. She will soon appear in the film ‘Udaipur Files’. In this movie, she plays a journalist named Anjana Singh. The film is based on a real-life event and has been making headlines even before its release.
Preeti is also gearing up for ‘Pro Panga League Season 2’. This is a special sports league that gives village athletes a platform. “We’re launching Pro Panga League Season 2 next month,” she shared. “It’s a sport that often gets overlooked, but it’s full of talented athletes—men, women, and even para-athletes.”
