The cameras have stopped rolling! Filming for the highly anticipated movie ‘Practical Magic 2’ is officially complete. Fans are buzzing, thanks to a fun announcement from one of its beloved stars.
Nicole Kidman, 58, shared the happy news on Instagram this past Saturday, September 13. She posted a celebratory video. In her caption, she wrote, "That’s it for #PracticalMagic2! Thanks to the cast and crew for all their magic ✨." The short clip showed Kidman walking alongside her co-star Sandra Bullock. Sunlight streamed around them in a field. Bullock, 61, playfully called out, "Profile shot? Profile shot!" Kidman’s joyful laugh could be heard in the background. It looked like pure fun.
A Return to the Owens Sisters’ World
Warner Bros. first shared news of the sequel in 2024. Kidman herself confirmed her return to the magical world of the Owens sisters. She told People magazine in June 2024 that both she and Bullock would be back. "Yes, I’ll be in it. And Sandy will be in it," Kidman stated. She added that there was "much more to tell," making the timing right for a new story. Moviegoers can mark their calendars for September 18, 2026. That’s when Warner Bros. plans to release the film in theaters.
The original 1998 film showed Sally and Gillian, two sisters. After their parents died, their aunts taught them witchcraft. The family also dealt with a tricky curse. Both actresses have often shared their love for the first movie. At the 2018 Oscars, Kidman fondly recalled, "I love that movie." She mentioned showing it to her kids, adding, "But we’re very good sisters." Bullock also used the chance to set the record straight about the famous midnight margaritas scene. "We weren’t drunk when we filmed those parts," she clarified. However, during a re-shoot for a wide shot, Kidman had a thought. "Nicole simply put the bottle on the table and said, ‘You know what? There’s no reason we shouldn’t be drunk here.’ And I said, ‘You know what? That’s true.’" It sounds like a fun memory from the set.

Fans got an early peek at the new film in July 2025. Kidman shared a video with the caption, "The witches are back! ✨ First day on set for the Owens sisters!" The movie was filmed at Warner Bros. Leavesden studios in England. London also served as a backdrop. Sandra Bullock was seen around the city in August 2025. Scott Da Silva-Wells was one witness who got a glimpse. He told Hello! Magazine about seeing her. "It was an unbelievable moment to see THE Sandra Bullock, and of course Dianne Wiest, outside my house on a Monday morning," he said. Da Silva-Wells added, "It was amazing to see her in action, and she even waved to some fans who were by her trailer with a big smile and a hand gesture."
