Portuguese Mayor Isaltino Morais Debuts Show with Critical Politics and Gastronomy Tips

Oeiras Mayor Isaltino Morais will debut a new television segment that blends his outspoken political commentary with personal culinary recommendations.

Morais, who heads the Lisbon-area municipality, described his new role on NOW’s ‘Isaltino no NOW’ as an opportunity to speak on national political affairs. He promised a tone that is “critical, honest and without worries of being politically correct,” a style his constituents are accustomed to hearing.

The weekly segment, airing on Portugal’s Channel 9, will be co-hosted by Pedro Mourinho and Marisa Caetano Antunes.

Adding an unusual twist to political analysis, Morais also revealed that each program will conclude with a “gastronomic suggestion note.” This feature, he noted, comes in response to popular demand from viewers.

The mayor’s debut on the program is scheduled for Friday, October 31, at 10 p.m. local time. He is expected to be a regular Friday fixture on the channel.
