Portuguese Mauro Jerónimo Takes Helm of Two-Time Vietnamese Champions

A Portuguese coach has been appointed to lead Vietnam’s two-time defending football champions, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, amid a significant dip in the club’s domestic performance. Mauro Jerónimo, 38, takes over a team currently sitting in 10th place in the league.

The club has accumulated just 10 points from 10 games, a stark contrast to their recent championship successes. Jerónimo expressed his enthusiasm for the new role.

“It is with immense pride and a sense of responsibility that I assume the position of head coach of Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC,” Jerónimo said in a statement. “I am very excited to be part of this historic club, with a unique legacy in Vietnam and incredible fans. I thank the board for the trust placed in me.”

Beyond their league struggles, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh is also competing in the AFC Champions League Two. Jerónimo brings prior experience in Vietnamese football, having previously coached PVF-Cand.
