Portuguese Humorist Nuno Markl Hospitalized After Stroke: ‘We Are Not Supermen’

Portuguese media personality Nuno Markl is recovering in a Lisbon hospital after suffering a stroke, using his health scare to urge others to recognize human limits and avoid overwork.

Markl, a popular humorist and radio host, took to social media from his hospital bed to reassure fans. He shared a photo of himself in recovery at Hospital São Francisco Xavier.

He emphasized that individuals “are not supermen” and warned that even beloved activities can be detrimental if pursued excessively.

“As much as we love the 789,675 things we do, they can destroy us,” Markl wrote in a message translated from Portuguese. He added that he was “recovering little by little” and in “excellent hands.”

He also referenced his popular show, ‘O Homem Que Mordeu o Cão,’ suggesting his experience could become material for future episodes.

Markl was initially admitted to a hospital in Cascais before being transferred to São Francisco Xavier on Wednesday, November 20. His exact condition beyond “recovering” was not immediately disclosed.
