Portuguese Golfer Ricardo Melo Gouveia Climbs 15 Spots to 38th at Spanish Open

Portuguese golfer Ricardo Melo Gouveia made a good move on Saturday at the Spanish Open. He climbed 15 spots after the third round of this DP World Tour event in Madrid. Gouveia now finds himself in a tie for 38th place, a nice jump up the leaderboard.

The action is happening at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid course. Gouveia started strong on Thursday, carding a 68. Friday was a bit tougher for him, as he shot a 73. But he bounced back nicely on Saturday, finishing the day with a solid 70, showing some real grit.

During his Saturday round, Gouveia managed to pick up four birdies. A birdie means he finished a hole one shot under par, which is always a good thing. He also had three bogeys, meaning he finished those holes one shot over par. Right now, he’s sitting at two shots below par for the entire tournament.

Looking at the top of the leaderboard, Britain’s Marco Penge is clearly in control. He’s way out in front at 16 strokes under par. Trailing him by four shots is Joel Girrbach from Switzerland, who is Penge’s closest competition.
