Portuguese Golf Federation Launches ‘Portugal Golf’ Brand for Sport & Tourism.

Portugal’s golf scene is making a bold play. The Portuguese Golf Federation (FPG) just rolled out a brand-new initiative called “Portugal Golf.” Think of it as a fresh campaign to bring more people into the game. The goal is clear: make golf more accessible to everyone and cement Portugal’s spot as a top-tier golf travel destination.

This isn’t just a quiet launch. Some of the country’s most important sports figures gathered to show their support. We’re talking about heavy hitters like Margarida Balseiro Lopes, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport. Also there was Pedro Dias, the Secretary of State for Sport, and Fernando Gomes, who leads the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP). Susana Feitor, head of the Sports Foundation, Daniel Monteiro from the Sports Confederation, and Maria João Cascais from the Portuguese Anti-Doping Authority also showed up, among others. Their presence signals this isn’t just a small-scale effort; it’s a national push.

Minister Balseiro Lopes spoke about the brand’s debut. She said this launch is a big statement. Golf wants to be a bigger part of daily life for Portuguese citizens. It aims to be seen as a sport that’s modern, energetic, and always getting better. It’s about shedding any old-fashioned images and embracing a new era.

Fernando Gomes, from the Olympic Committee, shared his hopes for the future. He felt very sure that Portuguese golf would make it back to the Olympic Games. Specifically, he’s eyeing a return in Los Angeles for the 2028 Games. That kind of ambition shows the serious drive behind this new “Portugal Golf” brand.
