A challenging day at the Canoe Slalom World Championships saw Portuguese paddlers Lucas Jacob, Frederico Alvarenga, and João Cunha miss out on the semi-finals. Competing fiercely in the kayak event, their efforts ultimately fell short of the top spots required to advance. This global competition brings together the best athletes, making every second count.

Lucas Jacob posted the strongest individual time among his compatriots. He finished 44th overall, clocking in at 94.55 seconds. Close behind were Frederico Alvarenga in 47th, with a time of 94.83 seconds, and João Cunha, who secured 48th place at 95.38 seconds. Only the fastest 30 competitors moved on to the next round, setting a very high bar for qualification.

In the team kayak slalom event, Portugal’s squad placed 15th. The race took place in Penrith, Australia, a venue famous for hosting Olympic events back in Sydney 2000. The team finished with a time of 106.59 seconds. France claimed victory in this category, showing their dominance with a winning time of 95.30 seconds. Portugal’s team finished 11.29 seconds behind the French champions.
