Porsche H1 2025: Electric Macan Outsells Gasoline Version

Remember those whispers earlier this year? The ones about Porsche possibly hitting the brakes on electric cars? It seemed the brand was leaning back towards gasoline and hybrid models, as fully electric vehicles weren’t flying off the shelves as fast as hoped. We even heard they were launching new gas-powered and plug-in hybrid cars.

Well, surprise! Porsche just released its sales numbers for the first half of 2025. What a turnaround. It turns out they sold more electric Macan SUVs than gasoline ones. This is a big win for battery-powered cars.

From January to June this year, Porsche delivered 146,391 vehicles around the world. A significant chunk of these, 36.1% to be exact, were electric. That’s a jump of 14.5% compared to before. Breaking it down, 23.5% were fully electric vehicles, and 12.6% were plug-in hybrids.

The Macan model line saw the biggest boost among all six Porsche types, growing by 15%. This growth clearly shows a shift in what customers want.

The Electric Macan Takes the Sales Crown

The all-electric Macan is a huge part of Porsche’s rising electric vehicle sales. Matthias Becker, who handles Sales and Marketing for Porsche AG, pointed this out. He said the company kept sales steady and balanced globally, even with ongoing world challenges.

In the first half of the year, Porsche delivered 45,137 Macans. Almost 60% of them were the fully electric version, totaling 25,884 vehicles. The gasoline-powered Macan still sold well too, with 19,253 units delivered. Porsche continues to offer the gasoline Macan in most markets outside the European Union.

Becker admitted that the second half of the year might still be tough. He stressed how important it is to work closely with sales regions. The goal is to carefully balance supply and demand. This fits with Porsche’s strategy of focusing on “value above volume.”

He believes Porsche’s updated range of cars remains very appealing. They meet the many different needs of customers worldwide, whether they prefer electric or traditional engines. This latest sales report certainly paints a brighter picture for Porsche’s electric future than many expected.
