ROME: Pope Francis has made a painful appeal to the leaders of Russia and Ukraine for a ceasefire, saying the war is a mistake and a horror.

Pope Francis said that the Russia-Ukraine agreement should take into account the legitimate legal rights of minorities, and that the two leaders would keep their doors open to peace proposals, ending the cycle of violence and death.

The Pope also urged the international community to do everything they can to end this inhumane tragedy and promote dialogue.
