Poomsae achieves bronze medal

Ana Patricia Peña and Joel Vilorio from the Dominican Republic won the bronze medal in the poomsae modality, an imaginary combat at the start of the taekwondo tournament at the Central American and Caribbean Games that takes place at the Santo Domingo subvenue.

Costa Rica and Centro Caribe Sports took command in the modality of “poomsae” with two gold medals each to take the lead in this discipline.

The ticos won the gold medal in the women’s singles, with María Salas. The silver went to Suache Arias and the bronze medals were taken by Jenifer Báez (Aruba) and Daniela Rodríguez (Panama). Costa Rica repeated gold in the team tournament (Juan Calderón and Salas); Colombia finished with silver. Cuba also obtained a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Centro Caribe Sports took the golden loot in the women’s free individual (María Higüeros) and in the mixed free, where it had Higüeros in another role, accompanied by Héctor Morales, in whose modality the silver was from Cuba and the bronzes were monopolized Venezuela and El Salvador.

The women’s free individual left Puerto Rico (Fabiola Ruiz) with silver; while SH Lee (Mex) and Daniela Rodríguez took bronze.

Mexico won the gold medal in the men’s free individual, with William Arroyo; the silver went to Elián Ortega and Elías Ruiz (Puerto Rico) was left with bronze.
