Pooja Hegde’s Film Career Hits Rough Patch with Back-to-Back Flops and Financial Woes

Pooja Hegde’s Bollywood journey has been on shaky ground lately. The actress, who made her Hindi debut in 2016 with Hrithik Roshan in Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Mohenjo Daro”, has seen a string of flops. Her latest, “Deva”, opposite Varun Dhawan, tanked at the box office, marking her sixth consecutive Hindi film to fail.

A rocky ride in Hindi cinema

Pooja’s struggles in Bollywood are evident. Despite being part of big-budget films like “Radhe Shyam” with Prabhas and “Cirkus” with Ranveer Singh, none have achieved significant success. Her recent Tamil films haven’t fared any better. With “Jan Nayagan” and “Kanchana 4” being her last Tamil projects, her presence in South Indian cinema is also dwindling.

  • “Deva” was her latest Hindi release, which didn’t do well at the box office.
  • She’s also part of “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”, directed by David Dhawan, alongside Varun Dhawan.
  • This film’s production is facing challenges, with no corporate backing or satellite/OTT interest.

Varun Dhawan factor

Varun Dhawan, Pooja’s co-star in “Deva” and “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”, is also struggling in Bollywood. His web series “Citadel: Honey Bunny” Season 2 was canceled. David Dhawan is directing “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” to help his son Varun. Despite filming the first schedule, the project’s future is uncertain due to a lack of financial backing.

Pooja Hegde’s career trajectory is a mix of high expectations and disappointing outcomes. As her current projects face challenges, the future of her Bollywood endeavors remains uncertain.
