While ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’, which is based on the power struggles of the Chola dynasty as Emperor Sundara Chola’s health worsens, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ is the second highest grossing of all time in Bollywood, but goes lagging behind ‘Robot 2.0’, which earned Rs 508 crore in India and Rs 665 crore worldwide in 2018.
If we talk about the earnings of only Tamil language movies, then ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1’ has proved to be the biggest movie ever, which has surpassed ‘Robot’.
‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has become the highest grossing film in Tamil Nadu and has proven to be the first film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark statewide so far, earning just under Rs 222 million. rupees.
The film has also performed exceptionally well abroad, earning around 171 crores, leaving behind ‘Robot 2.0’s 155 crores in the traditional market and has created many new standards for Bollywood. The film has so far grossed Rs 495.50 crore worldwide.
