Polo: Chapaleufú was crowned champion of the Argentino del Interior

The finals of Argentine Championship of the Interior with Handicap (CAIH) that took place throughout this week in the province of Mendoza, were held yesterday. The great inland polo party had its champions: Santa Fé, San Luis and Córdoba, the three provinces that celebrated on the day.

Chapaleufú shouted champion again, the Pampeans with A. Garzarón, I. Lariguet, S. Goñi and G. Guiñazú defeated Venado Tuerto 11-8, and stayed with the most important trophy inside.

In the run-up to the grand finale, LThe Sauces was left with a great triumph, With a goal by Milagros Sanchez in an extra chukker, the Puntanos celebrated against one of the locals, La Estacada, to win the Cavanagh Cup.

Finally, the Cordovan team made up of E. Bernal, L. Boccolini, S. Magrini and I. Maldonado defeated Arelauquen 9-7 and won the Friendship Cup.

In this way, the province of Córdoba is the most successful CAIH, with 12 titles (Río Cuarto, 5; Fortín El Sauce and V. Mackenna, 2; El Chañar, Washington and Pompeya, 1); followed by La Pampa, nine times champion, always thanks to Chapaleufú, the most winning club in the tournament. Behind Córdoba and La Pampa appear Entre Ríos, with five titles; Santa Fe -defender of the title-, with three; and close Tucumán, Salta and Corrientes, with one.

This championship is one more milestone within the growth of the sport throughout Argentina, and a sample of how more and more fans, clubs, male and female players are joining.
